“Before Voices the AIDS Committee of Toronto had a support group for women and I was part of that first group. I started to think, ‘give me the tools to run this.’ They had a brochure about condom use but I really wanted to know about how to stay alive! A lot of people were really into complementary medicine, complementary care. This was before treatment and the internet. I wanted information about health. For women it was also about how to have kids. To assert that you could have children. That you were willing to take the risk.”
