“My mothers was a widow and worked. She put me in daycare. I was at Bellevue in about 1946 or 1947. She was working as a lab technician in the weather office – the mediorlogical office by Varsity Stadium, that big beautiful granite building with a tall tower. My Uncle had a shop in China town. He sold seafood. He helped out my mum. My uncle took me to school. We got there by street car.”
