“So I knew the Isabella office. The space wasn’t friendly, not a fancy office, not attractive. It was the bottom of an apartment building. There was no signage for the sake of confidentiality. There was a back room where groups would go on. We would fit in 20 women into these tiny spaces. And they would know the space, how small and cramped it was, and they would still come. To talk about sex, stigma, meds, isolation … There was always laughter in that space. We would congregate outside, a lot of women smoked.”
